Buttercream Frosting

You can't have a great cake with out great icing! So, here is how I make my buttercream frosting!

Toss your butter in a mixing bowl.

"So, what kind of milk do you drink?"

As soon as people hear that we have a dairy farm they ask me this question, "So, what kind of milk do you drink?" So, I decided to dedicate this post to just that! If you have other questions feel free to email us or leave it in the comments!

Easter Story Cookies

To be made the evening before Easter. (or the one before that in my case!)

Preheat oven to 300. This is important to do right when you start the process.

These cookies have a story to tell. They are the story of Jesus Christ and how he died upon that cross for each and everyone of us so that we can have eternal life through him. Each step in the recipe has scripture to go along with it. I did this with my girls last night and they LOVED it! Miss Bug got to look up and read every scripture from her new Bible that she got for her BD. The Wild One helped me mix and add ingredients. It's simple to do and definitely a worth-while Easter activity!

Step 1: Place 1 C. whole pecans in zipper baggie and let children beat them with a wooden spoon to break up. This represents what happened to Jesus after he was arrested - beaten by Roman soldiers. (John 19:1-3)

Polly Update

Dear Reader,

This is not the post I had planned. I think you could tell by my last Polly post that I was super excited she was going to have her first calf. I was planning on sharing the sex of the calf, telling you how much it weighed and what I was most excited about having us all pick out a name together. It has taken me over a week to sit down and write this post.

Wordless Wednesday - "Moo-ing"

Spring farm tours are underway and this little one-week old is a huge hit with the kids! Let me tell you though - he has more to say than ANY other calf I've ever had on display!

Stay tuned for a future post on this calf and possibly the funniest thing that has ever happened to me during a farm tour!

This week I whipped up a Banana Pudding Pie!

Hickory Smoked Gouda Grilled Cheese

Believe it or not it is National Grilled Cheese Month!

We have had some discussion on our Facebook page regarding the different names for grilled cheese, cheese toasty etc. Grilled Cheese won big time! So, we will continue to refer to this yummy sandwich as such!

Dairy Farm FAQ

Why are their eyes so big?

Are all of them girls?

Where does the milk come out?

Why aren't they moo-ing?

What are they chewing?

These are just a few of the questions that I get asked on a daily basis!

I LOVE giving farm tours! I really do. It is a passion of mine and I can't tell you how excited I get when I see a bus full of screaming kids pull in to our drive. Although many of them might be screaming because they see a cow or a cat or maybe because it smells funny; it doesn't matter to me. I believe that they are screaming because they are excited to be out of school, I mean - on a farm!!

So, in honor of the thousands of kids that visit our farm each year, I am going to write an on-going series about Dairy Farm FAQ's. Here are just a few of the great questions that I get on nearly every farm tour that I give...

FAQ #1= Are they all girls?

Chicken Alfredo Pizza

I love pizza. Haven't met a pizza I didn't like. I am game to make it at home or eat it out. Every now and then I get a little crazy and add different toppings. This is what I call Chicken Alfredo Pizza.

A Moment of Weakness

Usually a moment of weakness for me involves chocolate or wine, in no particular order. But, not today!

I am so ready for some sunshine and summertime!! But, spring seems to be taking her sweet time around these here parts.
