Wordless Wednesday - Boston

I was recently in Boston for work and here is some of what I saw during our down time!

Purse Cake

I was asked to make a cake for a surprise birthday party for a friend. I knew she had a favorite purse brand so here is how I made her designer purse cake!

Start by baking 2 round cakes (the smaller the easier to work worth) I recommended 8" but note the cake pictured above was made with a 12" pan. I would not recommend using a cake mix with pudding, if you do the cake might not keep its shape very well. Cut the dome off to make the cake level.

Fill the cake with your favorite icing and stack the layers.

The Circle of Life with the Real Farmwives of America

 

Sorry, I couldn't help myself. And if you are anything like me the song will be stuck in your head for the rest of the day, sorry...! This was one of my favorite movies growing up!!  ♫ ♫ "It's the circle of life, and it moves us all..." ♫ ♫ Okay, I will stop singing now... :)

Well this Real Farmwives of America post theme is the "Circle of Life". I bet you already figured that out! The farm is a place where the circle of life is seen on a regular basis. Obviously death is a part of life but I am going to focus on my favorite part of living on a dairy farm, new life.

I am a sucker for baby calves. Those of you that have been around our site might have noticed!

This was the day - our lives changed forever!!!! Miss Bug entered our world at 12:52 AM this day. I remember it like it was yesterday!

Our poor families... They walked, paced, waited and waited and waited in the hospital waiting room for an entire day. Seriously! My BD is on the 22nd of March and I was really excited about having a baby on my birthday! Needless to say - after an entire day of waiting and waiting - apparently, she needed to have her own birthday! She decided to enter the world just 52 minutes after midnight to make it the 23rd day of March!!!

Despite her timing - it was fantastic! And, now 7 years later - it is still fantastic! Happy BD to my Bug!!!

Spaghetti Carbonara

Amy's kids were over and someone claimed the car! He even figured out that the car doors open and said, "It works!!"

First thing first, start cooking up some chicken and toss in your garlic.

While your chicken is cooking separate the eggs.

Polly is going to have a baby!!

For those of you that don't remember Polly, or haven't met Polly, here she is! Polly is going to have her first baby calf in the next couple of weeks! She has already moved to the maternity pen so we can make sure she gets the proper nutrition, vitamins and minerals she needs before she has her calf! We also have someone who stops in at least every two hours to check on the mom's to be. Let me tell you she is loving all this attention!!

Oh and I should tell you that Polly also just had her birthday! She is a Pieces or wait she's an Aquarius. I should probably let her know the signs changed!   

I cheated on my hair stylist

I admit it...

I felt/feel really guilty.

I have only been going to her for 12 years...

She even traveled 2 hours on a holiday to do my hair for my wedding and brought her mom to help with the wedding party... I know i'm a horrible person...

Wordless Wednesday - Lake Tahoe

"Is the drink included?"

Now that I am a mom purchasing not one or two but THREE kids meals when (if) we go out to eat; this is the question that I find myself asking over and over "Is the drink included?!!" If you are a mother - you know exactly what I mean!!!

So, I understand that the restaurant needs to make money and if they need to charge more for the kid's drinks then fine. My preference would be that they just charge more for the meal and include it!! Why does it feel like you are getting such a bargain when things are included?!?! But, my kids are beginning to understand that if the drink is not included - then they get to drink water! It's expensive enough purchasing 3 meals let alone 3 drinks!

What I'm Loving Wednesday

I'm loving that my flowers are either confused or know something I don't... I'm hoping for the later.

I'm loving that we now have a dishwasher. Yes, that's right we didn't have one until now!

I'm loving my new cookbooks "The Pioneer Woman Cooks" and "101 Homestyle Favorites" from Gooseberry Patch.

I call this meeting to order

So, what kind of kids put together a 'mock meeting'  for playtime?!?! MY kids!!!!

That's right! A few weeks ago my girls set up a meeting, outlined an agenda, invited guests and conducted a meeting when daddy got home from work! It was complete with introductions, name tents, music, a poem, and discussion time!!

So, you have to understand that Miss Bug (6 yrs) has been in meetings since she was 8 weeks old! I was still working away from home when she was born and when I returned to work from having her - she went to her first meeting that week! I had a lot of evening meetings then with LOTS of great baby-sitters in the audience, so I tended to just take her with me!

Over the years, we've attended meeting after meeting and so now the other two are quite familiar with that process! I didn't realize that they were this familiar until I attended one of their own! TOO funny!!! See for yourself...

First Sleepover

Being an Aunt is one of the greatest things in the whole wide world! None of my siblings have any kids so when I married the hubs I gained not only a husband but nieces and nephews!

It is sooo hard to sit still to get pictures taken!!
