Christmas Ornaments

Lots of things have changed in my life since becoming a mom and one of those has certainly been our Christmas Tree!!! We went from artificial and very formal (white lights, red ribbon, gold ornaments, etc.) to REAL and very homemade!

Last year was our first venture out to choose and cut down a real tree and we had so much fun that we decided it was a must-do every year! This year, we went to our friend's farm - Sickels Tree Farm and had a blast. We decided on a pine tree instead of a fir tree and just love it. It's so full and pretty and smells great!

So, I still stick with the white lights but we have ditched the ribbon, garland and gold balls for an ornament-only Christmas tree. And, like most kids - we make EVERYTHING in our house an ornament!! Toys, cars, food, hair bows, etc...

Here are some photos of our tree this year!

I still have some of our original ornaments - this from our wedding day...

I have had these snowflake ornaments made every year with our kids photos on them. LOVE them!!
And, LOTS of homemade ornaments from the kids - probably my favorites!

We even have some homemade decorations for our bedroom doors!!!

What does your tree look like this year??

  1. What fun photos! I love the homemade Christmas ornaments. Our Christmas tree is no longer taking water, so it's only a matter of time. :-( Hope it lasts through New Year's Day! Have a wonderful Christmas.

  2. Cute tree!
I bet that was a fun trip!

My girls keep begging for a real tree. But, my husband's allergies prevent us from going that route. I haven't had a real tree since I got married!

I will say, however, that we used to tromp out in the woods behind the barn to cut our own tree as a kid. Dad always made us cut a cedar tree, because he treasured the few pines on the property too much. So, I thought, we always had an ugly tree. Little did I know that, compared to the green plastic hulk adorning my front room today, they were beauties.

Hope you have a Merry Christmas!
