You can't have a great cake with out great icing! So, here is how I make my buttercream frosting!
Toss your butter in a mixing bowl.
Add your shortening.
Add your salt, vanilla and mix.
Put the cover on (if you have one) and begin to add small amounts of powdered sugar and milk.
If you don't have a cover just wrap a kitchen towel around your mixer to helps keep the powdered sugar in the bowl.
Beat on medium for a couple minutes until nice and fluffy!
Enjoy!

oh yes! butter cream icing IS a must! Love that stuff!!

ReplyDeleteI copied and will put in my recipe file. Sounds great
ReplyDeleteIt's ALL about the buttercream! YUM!
ReplyDeleteI make mine the same way except I do it in the food processor. No mess icing!
ReplyDeleteI love that frosting. I learned the hard way that one actually over-beat it. I think it ended up being kinda curdly and separated. Best to pay attention to what you're doing and beat as you instruct in your post. :-)
ReplyDeleteThis is the recipe I use except I don't add have salt in my recipe. I use Penzey's Double Strength Vanilla...and can't use any substitutes. It's fantastic! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHappy to see this! We all need a go to frosting, tried and true. Thanks!
