New Year's Day

New Year's Day is a special holiday on our farm!!

The beginning of a new year, new plans, new goals, new ideas and certainly lots of new memories!!

I have celebrated New Year's Eve with my hub for 14 years now and it seems like every one has had a special memory! I will never forget our last NYE as singletons... We had a party at his brother's house and invited lots of friends. Everyone had a great time and I specifically remember how we stood around 'awaiting' the chaos of 2000! Funny when nothing changed!!!! This was also 15 days before we got married, so things were a little crazy that year!

My first NYE as a married woman was also eventful! We had the pleasure of milking the cows that night (unexpectedly!) at the midnight shift. This was my FIRST experience milking! We worked together and spent the entire night in the parlor. I helped a little but mainly kept the coffee flowing and provided company to my hub! But, quite a memorable year!!!!

Through the years, we've celebrated mainly with gatherings of friends at our house and with lots of children! I happen to love NYE and just love to host a big party complete with tons of food, lots of games and confetti and noise makers at midnight!!!!

Our New Year celebration isn't complete until we have lunch at my hub's Grandma's house on NY Day. She has a big meal with all of the special holiday foods! It's a MUST in this family to eat some cabbage -- Even the little ones have to take a bite!

This New Year's will be yet another one that we will remember forever. My blogging partner, Liz, will be marrying my brother in law! We've been excited for this day for years!! Here's to a life together full of love and happiness! And, Liz - welcome to the family! We love you!!!

Happy New Year to all!

  1. I've been out in the milk house on NYE when Tall Guy and I were dating! It's my goal to have a party here next year after all the construction of Phase 1 remodel is a memory. I don't think Phase 2 will be underway. TG isn't quite on board with it all yet! :-)

I will be thinking of you all tomorrow and look forward to an avalanche of posts and pictures next week!

    Happy New Year!

  2. Amy. In our early years when it was time to go somewhere special Jim would look at the cows in the pasture as we passed by and it seemed there was always one of our girls having a calf. So back we went and he had to make sure she was OK that meant changing clothes and walking through the pasture. Then we would always be late. Those are the times we remember
Happy New year to you and your family
